The first of three PGSO Chamber Socials in 2022-23, German Winds will be hosted at Trinity Downtown’s renovated Knox Performance Space.
The first phase of renovations are well underway with new acoustic flooring, seating, radiant heating, and a new expanded stage arrangement all having been added to the main performance space. This multi-phase project is bringing a new professional-level music performance venue to Prince George. This will be the public’s first opportunity to see the space in its new configuration.
A magnificent night out - Saturday October 22, 2022 marks the first of three Chamber Socials hosted by the Prince George Symphony Orchestra. A Chamber Social is not your average concertgoing experience. Your ticket purchase covers appetizers as well as table seating. The setting is intimate, with fewer musicians than a Mainstage Concert. There is even a cash-bar on-site! Cheers!
German Winds presents an array of wind and string music. For the strings, the lush Romantic Dvorak Terzetto anchors their contribution. Written for two violins and viola, the piece serves as the chamber debut for the PGSO’s new principal string players: Lydia Hug (concertmaster), Katherine Peter (principal second violin) and Calvin Yang (principal viola). Two very different German wind quintets bookend the program, opening with Hindemith’s intricate 20th century Kleine Kammermusik (small chamber music) and ending with Danzi’s thoughtful Classical wind quintet in D minor
