Chamber Socials are an intimate evening out by candlelight with food, drink, and spectacular live music performed by the principal players of the PGSO.  Appetizers are included with table seats, and a cash bar is available to all. Doors open at 6:30pm and patrons are encouraged to arrive early to find a seat.

Tables may be reserved for groups of 4, 6, or 9 by calling the PGSO box office.

 

Did You Know?

  • Vivian Fung, a graduate of The Julliard School in New York, composes for ensembles and orchestras around the world. The piece we’ll be playing for this concert features on her 2025 Chamber Music America Award-winning album, Insects & Machines: Quartets of Vivian Fung, performed by the Jasper String Quartet. Vivian's website
  • Like many famed composers, George Walker was ahead of his peers, only 14 years old when he graduated high school and joined the Oberlin Conservatory. In 1996 he became the first African-American composer to win a Pulitzer Prize for Music, and he continued to compose into his 90s.  Read more
  • His String Quartet No. 6 was the last work Felix Mendelssohn composed before his death in 1847. With a rather high-strung personality and strong conservative views, Mendelssohn immediately got a haircut when a friend commented that he resembled a composer of whom Mendelssohn disapproved.
